Exhibition design, Poster and allied graphics for Portuguese illustrator Ana Aragão.
The brief was to design a way of exhibiting thireteen large illustrations (140cm x 110cm) together with (incorporating) texts by the Portuguese author Gonçalo M. Tavares. Tavares wanted his texts to be a part of the exhibition in the way that Aragão's illustrations were — that's to say to not be 'removable' from the exhibition as they would be if available as take-away publication. This meant finding a way to make them an integral to the design. This was done by placing the texts — printed on angled hexaboards — in the centre of the room, surrounded by the illustration which we decided to suspend creating a room within a room.
For the graphic elements, we interpreted the central elements — the city, the house and the body — as centres whose edges are not fixed nor clearly defined. Hence our poster design.
