A 244 page catalogue produced in separate English (red) and Portuguese (blue) language editions to accompany the Serralves Museum exhibition about Portuguese painter Paula Rego.
Even though I always ask, it's not always possible to meet with the artist before working on a catalogue. On this occasion, because of the importance of the exhibition, I travelled to London to be with Paula in her Camden studio. Because so much of the success of a catalogue depends on faithful reproduction it was important to see the works in person and to check them against the colour proofs that I had ordered. It was also important to get her approval and to be able to talk about the general design of the catalogue. It was no surprise that she wanted no great graphic adventures and I respected those wishes.
The last image shows a small special edition 'Little Red Riding Hood' book designed using Paula Rego's illustrations of this famous children's story.
