Two new covers of a two volume set for Ahab Edições (A Palavra do Mudo by Julio Ramón Ribeyro) take a departure from previous designs. Past design rationale was to always work the title as an integral part of the overall design, turning the text into image. We had also in the past discussed with Ahab whether there would ever be an appropriate time or reason to try out different approaches. A special series might be one. But in the end Ahab is not a large enough publisher to be able to commit themselves to a second line of publications. Therefore the answer to the question was anytime. We choose now. The first volume has recently been published and the second will follow before Christmas. Only then will readers become aware that the design uses one image across the two covers.
